Dr. Bharati Pawar, the Union minister of state for health and family welfare in Nashik, announced on Friday that a 100-bed critical care hospital would be built in within two and a half years time, benefiting the tribal communities that currently lack access to beds and medical care in times of crisis. Through the PM Ayushman Bharat Health infrastructure mission, a sum of Rs 40 crore has already been approved (ABHIM).

The administration will need to make sure the hospital is built in time to serve the residents of Nashik district, which comprises nine tribal talukas out of the districts fifteen.

There are sizable tribal populations in the districts of Nandurbar, Dhule, and Jalgaon as well. According to Pawar, people from these areas travel to Nashik for medical care and will benefit greatly from the new facility. The authorities of the civil hospitals administration confirmed that the groundwork and legalities will begin soon. (Times of India, Jul 23, 2022)
